Make a Tee-Shirt, Intro to Sewing with Knits

Make a tee-shirt using a pattern in this 2 day workshop.

Tuesdays, Nov. 19+26, 6:30-8:30pm

Bring your own Sewing machine or rent one. This workshop requires as Zigzag stitch on a regular sewing machine or bring your serger to get the practice. Please only bring working sewing machines to the class.

Fabric and Patterns provided.

Sashiko Intro

Explore textile collage and mindful stitching! This workshop covers the intro to Sashiko, Japanese embroidery, and it's origins from Boro, Edo Period Patchwork and garment repair.

Tuesday, Dec. 10, 6:30-8:30pm

Embroidery Charm Bag with The Magick Makers

Make keepsake Charm bag/pillow to fill with soothing herbs, and tailsmans of your choice. We will cover the basics of embroidery, stitching on linen. All supplies provided

Saturday Dec. 7th, 11am-1:30pm

This workshop is a collaboration between The Magick Makers and Rivtak.

Mixed Media Mobiles

Inspired by artist Alexander Calder, and the movement of sunlight, these mobiles are the perfect home addition. These mobiles have an element of earth- a found driftwood or cactus stick, wind and air, and a crystal sun catcher to project sun beams through out a room.

RIVTAK Handmade

River Takada is a Japanese American mixed media artist, based in Durham, NC.

River’s work is known for embracing the spirit of re-use; using high quality remnant materials left behind by local textile factories. In small batches, Rivtak products are designed with little to zero waste.  Each piece is carefully crafted around a purpose... adornment and awareness. The artist is always experimenting with new materials and offers a variety of creative workshops, sharing her Japanese and American textile heritage.
